Uganda has one of the world’s youngest populations, but Sexual and Reproductive Health service appropriateness and uptake among young people is very low.
The Youth Corner Project is creating an environment that enables young people make informed choices and decisions about their lives and health through providing gender sensitive and age appropriate information and services that encourages them to increase uptake youth friendly SRH services through a peer to peer mechanism.
These corners are established in the respective communities to break the barriers of accessibility and stigmatization and are attended to by well trained peer educators, health volunteers and sexual and reproductive health personnel. These corners offer the following services;
- Free HIV testing and counselling
- Family planning services
- Free condom use demonstration and distribution
- Sex education sessions
- Media sessions
- Distribution of IEC materials.
- Information and knowledge sharing.
- ARV distribution
