PHF approach focuses on transforming mind shifts and empowering girls. We believe that if we tackle the discriminatory perceptions, attitudes and practices that underpin and condone violence against women; and if we equip young women and girls with the tools, skills and knowledge to challenge patriarchal structures; we will create an environment in which girls’ can exercise their agency to challenge the status quo, resist abuse, and discrimination; this we do in the most safe place of peer to peer intervention.

The girl’s empowerment and Innovation village which was set in the island district of Kalangala is an investment in girls’ economic empowerment which has set a direct path towards gender
equality, poverty eradication and inclusive economic growth. With the generous support from Kathryn Mcquade foundation the centre has now attracted over 300 adolescent girls and young women including AGYWs with disabilities who are gaining employable skills in trades such tailoring/fashion/design. Bakery, shoe making, functional product design such as wallets, bags,
necklaces, crafts such wrist bands. With just one year of operation the center has now become beacon of hope! The center targets to help vulnerable in and out of school girls, sex workers, and other victims of sexual and gender based violence.
